ELIZABETH TAYLOR's first wedding dress is up for auction and is expected to reach up to £50,000.The shell-white satin gown - created by celebrated costume designer Helen Rose - was worn by the then-18-year-old when she married Hilton Hotels founder Conrad Hilton.
The dress, which has an impressively tiny 20-inch waist, will be sold at Christie's in London on June 26 as part of its Pop Culture sale.The gown is decorated with bugle beads and seed pearls and has an in-built corset.The Telegraph reports that it took 15 seamstresses between two to three months to create, designed so intricately that accurate replicas could not be produced.
The marriage was short-lived - lasting only eight months - but, undeterred, Taylor went onto marry a further seven times.
