WE CAN always count on Lena Dunham to break the mould, so it comes as little surprise, albeit still a delight, that she has filmed 12 videos to promote her recently released collection of essays, Not That Kind Of Girl.
The shorts - in which Dunham takes on the role of agony aunt, replying to problematic questions that readers have sent into her "office" - cover issues that she touches on in the book, including "bad sex", "dressing provocatively as a feminist", "sleeping with bad people", "being loud at work", and "dealing with OCD".
One subject in particular - "plus size" - garnered some particularly personal advice from the star. When Megan, "the beautiful, sexy, plus-size college student", asks Dunham how to gain confidence, Dunham told her:"something that I have learned is that for me, confidence comes from feeling happy with my habits and feeling like I can be proud of my life... and that doesn't mean losing 30 pounds, that means taking care of myself and treating myself like precious cargo."
As candid as ever, Dunham continues:"Also, another thing that I'll say, is that I've been a bunch of different weights and being temporarily 135 pounds, I was so obsessed with food, I was like, so into counting almonds, that I don't think I got laid that entire time, whereas when I was at my biggest and running around Brooklyn in a romper, it was raining men."
