SALES of Margaret Thatcher's preferred handbag styles have jumped 53 per cent since her death two weeks ago.The Bellini and Adagio by Launer London have seen a significant surge in popularity, with the biggest sales spike yesterday - the day of the Baroness' funeral.
Thatcher's relationship with the British brand - also a favourite of the Queen - began after the company's chief executive, Gerald Bodmer, gave the former Prime Minister one of the label's bags as a present, accompanied by a newspaper cartoon showing her hitting Argentina with her handbag - a reference to the Falklands War fought between Argentina and the UK.
