JAEGER is bringing around five to 10 per cent of its manufacturing back to Britain as part of its plans to boost its finance and revive its image. The aim is to improve the quality of its collections, but will also make the process from production to the shop floor much faster.
Currently, most of Jaeger's clothing is created in Asia, but CEO Colin Henry - who joined the company in July - wants to manufacture more products in Turkey, Italy and Portugal, as well as the UK - namely its knitwear, accessories and men's tailoring. The label stopped manufacturing in the UK 15 years ago.
The British brand was taken over by private equity firm Better Capital in April 2012, when the ailing company was bought from previous majority stakeholder Harold Tillman. In November 2012, Collette Brown - who had previously worked at Burberry, Pringle and Dolce & Gabbana - was named head of womenswear.
