Adwoa Aboah has enjoyed a stellar year. She has become a poster girl for the new diverse and outspoken breed of models, walked dozens of catwalks, starred in campaigns for Gap, Versus and H&M, graced the cover of Edward Enninful"s debut issue of British Vogue and was named Model of the Year at the recent Fashion Awards.
And now the 25 year-old is capping off 2017 by sneaking in another achievement just before Christmas.Burberry have announced that Aboah will be collaborating with photographer Juergen Teller on a series of images, the first of which are set for release next week, with more to follow in early 2018.
The first portfolio of images will launchon Boxing Day, and consists ofa series of pictures featuring Aboah posing with her cousinsAlfie Husband, George Husband, RichardTheodore-Aboah and KwameNDow, as well asMontell Martin and Mae Muller, along Regents Canal in North London.
This initial set of images will introduce Burberry"s latest collection, which will be available to buy from Burberry.com onthe 26th of December, and sees the familiar Burberry check - which witnessed a significant revival this year - offset by pops of neon and glossy materials.Think laminated trench coats, bright bags and doodle details counterbalanced by neutral hues and classic shapes.
Theproject wascommissioned by Burberry Creative DirectorChristopher Bailey, who will be stepping down from his role as President and Chief Creative Officer in March after 17 years at the helm of the company.Itheralds Aboah and Teller"s first collaboration, but also offers a clever stopgap as the house appoints a new creative at its helm.
“It has been a huge honour for me to work withBurberryand Juergen Teller on this inspiring project,"" says the Aboah, who couples modelling with her mental health initiative Gurls Talk.""My role as both model and artistic director is one I have really enjoyed and embraced.Christopher Bailey is an incredible visionary and it has been an amazing experience to work together with him and Juergen to create this series of stories.”
