New York-based stylist Kate Foley is a woman after our own hearts. Her thick-soled monochrome lace-ups might look like a radical statement, but, in fact, Foley knows that in NYCs sub zero climes these wedges will keep her feet warm.
Practicality, aside, Foley could quite easily have followed the fash pack and paired her patterned dress with preppy loafers, à la Gucci. To stomp into the dinner (held in aid of Joseph and creative director Louise Trotter) in no-nonsense lace-ups Kate undercut her peers and created an outfit with high low balance and plenty of tude.
Next time you pull that pretty, printed dress out of your wardrobe, give it a hard-edged twist too.A statement single earring or a peppering of studs and small hoops would have the same impact.
NB:If youre wondering where Kates boxy binocular-shaped bag is from, Mark Cross is the answer. The 1854-founded brand, worn famously by Grace Kelly in 1954 film Rear Window, closed its doors in the 1990s and was brought back to life in 2011, with Foley one of its cult fans.Find out more about Mark Cross here.
